Spiritual Retreat in Taybeh – “to be holy today”
TAYBEH – A spiritual retreat was held on Friday, March 13 at the Christian village of Taybeh for Catechists at Christian schools in Palestine. It was a moment of formation, of fellowship, and of friendship.
The theme for the retreat was “to be holy today”, in the wake of the forthcoming canonization of two Palestinian saints, Marie-Alphonsine Ghattas and Mariam Bawardi, on May 17 . Sainthood is a true challenge in the world of today, but the two forthcoming saints, daughters of this Holy Land, are present to accompany the faithful on this thorny road by their example of obedience, of simplicity, of humility, of loving acceptance of the suffering.
The retreat was organized for Catechists of Christian schools in Palestine by the Office of Catechism of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, directed by Sr Virginie Habib.
The agenda included: a conference by Bishop William Shomali, Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem and in Palestine, a time of prayer, celebration of Mass, followed by a fraternal meal at Charles de Foucauld Center. It was a time of fraternal sharing.
Bishop Shomali was very delighted on this day : “I felt the atmosphere was good and instructors were happy to meet. The welcome of the parish priest, Fr Aziz, was perfect”
