Two New Palestinian Saints for the Diocese of Jerusalem
COMMUNIQUE – On Saturday, February 14, 2015, during the Consistory of Cardinals gathered in Rome around the Holy Father, Pope Francis, the date of the canonization of the two upcoming Palestinian Saints was announced.
During a Mass on May 17, 2015, Blessed Marie-Alphonsine, foundress of the Rosary Sisters, and Blessed Mary of Jesus Crucified, founder of the Carmel of Bethlehem, will be canonized as saints for the Church.
The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Fouad Twal, in Rome, expressed his “immense joy, and the joy of the Holy Land, which is totally delighted with the canonization of two Palestinian women from the Diocese of Jerusalem. They are our light and consolation amid our difficulties.”
The Patriarch, rejoicing that the diocese can count on the example and prayers of these two disciples of Christ, thanked all those who worked to make known their respective lives, and already invites all the faithful to join the festivities which will take place in Rome and in the Holy land on the occasion of the canonizations.
