Nethanyahu to meet Pope Francis in the Vatican
VATICAN CITY – At a time of escalating rumors of a possible trip by Pope Francis to the Holy Land, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with Pope Francis on October 23, 2013, according to après release from the Prime Minister’s office.
After Israel President Shimon Peres, King Abdullah of Jordan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, now Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will meet the Holy Father in the Vatican on Wednesday, October 23rd.
On Thursday October 17th, President Abbas invited Pope Francis to come to the Holy Land, some months after President Peres’ invitation. The Pope has openly expressed his wish to come to the Holy Land. Israeli media have even hinted that Pope Francis would like to make trip before Mr. Peres’ end of term, in July 2014.have neither been confirmed or denied by the Vatican.
