Admission to holy orders at Redemptoris Mater Seminary
GALILEE – The Most Reverend Ilario Antoniazzi, new Archbishop of Tunis presided over a Eucharistic celebration at the Church of the Domus Galilaea International Center on Thursday, March 21. At this celebration, three seminarians from the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Galilee were admitted to Holy Orders for the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Sliman Hifawi, a native of Jaffa in Tel Aviv, Juan Manuel Silva Lopez, a native of Colombia, and Marek Kurzydłowski from Poland.
During his homily, the Archbishop Antoniazzi said he was very happy to be able to reap the first fruits of his Episcopal Ordination, which took place only a few days ago. He invited the three candidates to respond generously, “Here I am!” to the call that the Lord has spoken to them, thereby imitating the faith of Abraham and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Citing St. Bernard, he indicated that, as with the Virgin of Nazareth, so also today, the Angel and with him the Church are waiting for an answer from those who are called. He also recalled that the vocation to the priesthood is not an exclusive and intimate event, but a call that concerns the whole Church, involving primarily the families and the communities where the desire to follow Christ was born.
At the end of the celebration, Fr. Francesco Giosuè Voltaggio, the rector of the seminary thanked the new Archbishop of Tunis, assuring him of the closeness of the Seminary to his important mission of Pastor in the service of the Church in Tunisia. A deep gratitude is also addressed to the brothers of the Neo-catechumenal communities in the Holy Land present (from Jaffa in Tel Aviv, Shefa’amer, Eilaboun, Tarshiha, Me’elia), for their support of the seminarians, for whom it is essential to be able to continue walking the path of faith within a community that accompanies them and encourages them.
