Celebrating 25 years of Episcopal ordination
JERUSALEM, Jan. 31 – Priests came to the Patriarchate from the different countries of the diocese, individually and in groups. They did not want to miss this fraternal gathering to celebrate twenty-five years of the Episcopal ordination Patriarch Emeritus Michel Sabbah.
The celebration took place at the Latin Patriarchate in the evening of January 31, the feast of St. John Bosco. It started with prayer in the Patriarchal chapel with H.B. Fouad Twal, H.B. Michel Sabbah, joined by Bishop William Shomali, Bishop Giacinto Marcuzzo, Bishop Kamal Bathish and thirty priests, prayed Vespers together in thanksgiving for their vocation.
They all shared a meal together in fraternal gathering around H.B. Sabbah, the first Palestinian leader of the Church of Jerusalem for twenty years from 1988 to 2008.
During the evening, a film that was put together by the Chancellor, Fr. George Ayoub was shown, presenting the different phases of the pastoral life of the former Patriarch. The film included several anecdotes described and narrated by the priests of the Patriarchate featuring Patriarch Sabbah.
His Beatitude Fouad Twal, had words of gratitude and praises for his predecessor and presented a gift on behalf of all the priests. He likewise thanked everyone for their presence at the evening celebration.
