J.F. Canteneur receives Cross of Merit Award
On Friday, October 12, 2012, His Excellency General Bernard Fleuriot, French Lieutenant of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem bestowed the Cross of Merit of the Order upon Jean-François Canteneur, who is the Coordinator of the Barnabas Network at the church of St. Leu and St. Gilles in Paris. This award recognizes individuals outside of the Order who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to the Holy Land.
At the end of 2006, Jean-François Canteneur introduced the “Barnabas Network” as a platform to promote cooperation between French Catholic schools and Christian schools in the Holy Land.
Signing of a cooperation agreement:
Along with this partnership, a team coordinating the Barnabas Network has signed a cooperation agreement with the Consul General of France to develop educational visits to classes, training, writing workshops and mastery classes.
More “summer camps” in French were also conducted in Ramallah and Bethlehem schools.
Finally, last year, the Barnabas Network brought together several stakeholders to support the development of the hotel management program at schools in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem. This networking effort helped to enrich, improve efficiency and create new bonds of friendship between young French people and people in the Holy Land.
To consolidate the work of Catholic schools, the Network is linked with French cooperation in the Holy Land and in France; with the Catholic Delegation for Cooperation, Oeuvre d’Orient, and the works of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher.
