The Editors

“And this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent…” (Jn.17:3)

Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, all AOCTS Bishops, clergy and the faithful in Jerusalem express their sincere condolences to the Syrian Catholic Church on the death of Cardinal Ignatius Moussa Daoud, may God have mercy upon him, as they also implore God to give him His peace and to the Syrian Church, Bishops, clergy and the faithful, solace and consolation in their faith.

The late Cardinal was a beacon of the Syrian Church and an exemplary pastor who loved his people while at the same time was supportive of interreligious dialogue and communal life in our beloved Orient. He fulfilled his mission towards the holy Catholic Church in his capacity as Prefect of Congregation for the Oriental Churches in Rome.

The commitment to accompany him with our prayers and solace for his Church stems from our recognition of all the services that he has given to his Church, his country and to all Christians in the East. Eternal rest grant unto him, o Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
