Solemnity of St. Joseph in Shefaamer
The Latin parish of Shefaamer under the leadershipof Father Bassam Deir, celebrated its patronal feast on Saturday, March 19th with a Pontifical Mass celebrated by the Latin Patriarchal Vicar, Bishop Giacinto Boulos Marcuzzo.
Also present were Fr. Elias Tabbane; Melkite priest Fr Adraos Bahhouth; Orthodox priest Fr. Samuwil Zayed; and the Pastor Fuad Dagher. Many devotees of St. Joseph and parishioners attended the celebration.
During his homily, Bishop Marcuzzo congratulated everyone named Joseph in Shefameer and the entire parish community.
Starting from the idea of the parish as a family, Bishop Marcuzzo spoke about three commitments of the Church for this year: the commitment of Christians in public life (according to the post-synodal church programs), the initiative of reading the Bible for 5 minutes every day (recommended by the Apostolic Exhortation Verbum Domini), and the Holy Land pilgrimage of the relics of St. Therese of Lisieux.
After Mass was the exchange of feast day greetings, followed by lunch with priests, the Council and choir, and the traditional visit to the Sisters of Nazareth who operate St. Joseph School one, of the oldest schools in Shefaamer.
