Second Sunday of Lent in the Holy Sepulcher

20032011-DSC_0049_1Lenten solemn celebrations continue at the Holy Sepulchre. Mass of the second Sunday of Lent centered on the Gospel of the Transfiguration with Fr. Klimas Narcyz, OFM as main celebrant, in the presence of Bishop Giacinto Boulos-Marcuzzo, Auxiliary Bishop for Israel, with several priests concelebrating.  The Franciscans and seminarians from Beit Jala were responsible for the liturgy: hymns, processions of entry and exit. The faithful participated in the Mass with enthusiasm and prayerful reverence.

The assembly began with Lauds (Morning Prayer of the Church) chanted in Latin. The Eucharistic celebration was a time to meditate on the mystery of the Transfiguration and the glory of Christ manifested on Mount Tabor before the passion which Jesus had to experience in Jerusalem.

The Sacred Liturgy is a faithful continuation of the ancient tradition of divine worship in the Holy Places.
