Anniversary of Blessed Marie Alphonsine’s beatification
It was a year ago that Mother Marie Alphonsine, foundress of the Rosary Sisters, was beatified in Nazareth! To commemorate this significant event for the Church of the Holy Land, and to remember that holiness is the vocation of every Christian, Mass in her honor was celebrated.
The celebration was presided by Bishop William Shomali, Auxiliary Bishop of Jerusalem, concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus Kamal Bathish, Rev. David Neuhaus, sj, Patriachal Vicar for the Hebrew-speaking Catholics, priests from the parishes and religious communities. Also present was Archbishop Jules Zerei, Greek-Catholic Archbishop of Jerusalem. It was well attended by the Rosary Sisters, men and women religious from different congregations, and many friends of the community of the Rosary Sisters.
The beauty of the liturgy, was enhanced by the beautiful rendition of songs and hymns by the Choir of the Custody of the Holy Land. The faithful of Jerusalem came to venerate Blessed Marie Alphonsine for a time of intense communion with her.
After Mass, a sumptuous spread of food was served for everyone to enjoy. It was a festive and joyous atmosphere in the courtyard, as everyone mingled in lively conversation with one another.
