The Patriarch visits Argentina
On Saturday, October 30th, His Beatitude Fouad Twal, arrives in Buenos Aires, on the first leg of his pastoral visit to South America. The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Adriano Bernardini will be the Patriarch’s host in Argentina.
The Patriarch will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday in Luján, for the Argentinean missionaries serving in the Holy Land. Deacon Javier Oliva, of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, now a missionary in Paraguay will be ordained on that day. This congregation has many members in the Holy Land, including the vice-chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Father Marcelo Gallardo, and the Latin parish priest in Gaza, Father Jorge Hernandez.
On Monday, November 1st, the Patriarch will celebrate a Mass of Investiture for the new members of the Argentinean Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in the Church of Our Lady of Pilar in Buenos Aires. He is slated to give two conferences on Tuesday, November 2nd, at CARI (Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales), and at the Austral University in Buenos Aires on the theme of “Christians in the Middle East and Interreligious Dialogue.”
After an interview with the IAIS (Catholic Information Agency in Argentina) on Wednesday, November 3rd, he leaves for Santiago Chile, and is also scheduled to visit Colombia and Honduras.
