The parish of Aboud celebrates its Centennial Jubilee
On Sunday, September 26th, the parish of Our Lady of Sorrows, in the village of Aboud, Ramallah district, celebrated its centennial anniversary. Many children received the sacraments of communion and confirmation during this jubilee celebration.
Jointly celebrated with the jubilee was the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Patronness of the parish. The Virgin standing at the foot of the Cross, is an example and a witness to mankind of silent suffering. She intercedes for us with her Son, who died for our salvation.
The parish community had the pleasure to spiritually accompany the children as they received the sacraments during Mass: 18 received the Body of Christ for the first time, while 14 were confirmed by His Excellency, William Shomali, Auxiliary Bishop of Jerusalem.
The opening of the jubilee year is an important time for the parish community. It is a time of pastoral situation assessment and a review of the parish needs and direction into the future. It is as well a year of thanks giving to our Lord Jesus Christ through for Blessed Mother’s intercession.
